Marriage at a profit

Marriages during this era is an undoubtedly a multi-million business spread all across the country. some time back this would have been the similar but this much of publicity and related add-on were not evident. It will be a false statement if I say now the things are worse and back then the things we better, but rather the arrangements around the marriage was always in accordance with the social situation. one can point out earlier it was like this and now its this by comparing in two different time slots, critiques were abundant at past as well. who knows what might come next since today was yesterdays tomorrow. 
The subject matter in this topic is nt all that, yet a rather unknown fact, profit on a wedding.

After all those fancy onetime expenditure how come there is a profit, well you never know.
This is a hypothesis I m creating to argue with my self. Most of the wedded couples know the facts and figures associated with a wedding/homecoming pheromone, general public assume then, but no one speaks about the gifts and money received from the participants, well-wishers, relatives, friends etc ( well its a secret of the mother in LAW !!)

I argue that  after all those expenditure wedded couple still walks away with a profit. ( OK I will come to my case later)
Look this is the stultification, other that a completely independent couple whom had planned their own wedding paying the wedding planner, photographer, makeup artist, music, hall, honeymoon, helicopter arrival what not, majority of those are funded by parents, therefore the expenditure on the couple is minimal.
Next travel gifts given by most prestigious well wishers, or relatives, doesn't that count.
Value of the gifts are not accounted at any case, after opening say" Ah! those buggers have only bought a cheap tea cup set what to do with this? this would have cost less than 1000. its a loss what we have fed them with, how may came, did you see how they ate? " like wise. Also there is one more, i.e. similar gifts received have no value. typical example is the teacup set.
Some choose the give Money in an envelop this is direct cash receipt.
Others some gift vouchers ect,
recently I heard that there are gift books available at the popular consumer items sales & furniture sales outlets so that the wedding invitees can pay their contribution to the items wished by the couple: What? yes true, I was amazed by this. seems its actually happening.
Last but not the least the Dawry, doesn't it count?
when every thing is accounted,  I believe a Wedding is a profit center for the couple.
It would be disappointing if don't say about my own experience,  
of cause in my case it wasn't a profit or loss but a win win situation ( Most importantly I cannot remember the figures its been a decade now)
