When it comes to a group of people the dynamics change since the external factors come in to place between different individuals. Mostly this is the case in general day to day personnel as well as official activities.
Whether we like it or not, we are always a part of a group either family, friends, colleagues, officials l, animals... the list expands; unless someone chooses to live in a jungle far from human connection.
The first occurrence of existence is the interaction with other individuals or groups of individuals during the cause of living, where this could be actions of basic livelihood or performing a particular task.
now the idea of team and teamwork is very popular and used as a model as well as a tool in both management and execution. success or failure rather the effectiveness of the team model has different ideologies; based on each person's aspirations and the attitude the model could work.
here the problem is not mainly about the result but the process of creating the desired result which is the basic concept of team, where most of the time the basis or the starting point of the team is the group, inherently the team sprit in a group does not exist due to difference in the personnel behavior and the expectations.
in the general steps for team building, the requirement of a leader is a natural cause which leads the team to a disastrous end. next pre-defined tasks of the team members, this is basically the same concept of the group, there is nothing new. unless otherwise, the leader leads the team rather the group doesn't move towards the desired direction.
In an effective team, its essential a common interest-driven goal for the team is created where the personnel interests and or competencies lead towards the common goal or is a partial goal that is an essential step of the action on achieving group goal, in a group the individual's part plays a vital role in completion of the total activity scope which is enabled by the segregated partial personnel goals of the individual member of the group.
what clearly distinguishes a team from the group is the activities that involve more than one individual is required to perform simultaneously, where the collective effort will result in a positive gain. there only the concept of a common goal is ineffective, there two more concepts shall come into place
unlike in a group where the task and the actions of a member is predefined and instructed, here the predefined activity shall be with a tolerance where the member is flexible to alter the task to suit the situation or the requirement but maintaining the core values unaffected.
next is empowerment a dynamic team member capability or flexible work freedom is useless unless otherwise the responsibility, accountability, and authority is given to the individual level as well as a small cluster of the team that has a positive output or a gain in the process.
this is no easy task, creating groups and assigning members for the predefined tasks is rather easy activity than defining a team to perform better there a rigid group is misunderstood and implemented as a team
